Horseback riding is a great form of exercise and kids get to spend a majority of their time outdoors. There is an indoor riding arena available for riding during inclement weather.
Feel safe leaving your child with a Pennsylvania certified Secondary Education Science Teacher with over 30 years of equine experience who oversees the summer program.
Our experienced and enthusiastic summer camp counselors will guide your child through a week of fun equine activities, games and engaging riding lessons!
Why Sign Up:
Kelly, the owner and manager of Sugar Valley Farm, is also a Pennsylvania State certified secondary education science teacher.
She taught in various public high schools for over 8 years teaching the subjects of Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology & Biotechnology, and Advanced Placement, Honors, and College Preparatory Biology.
In more recent years, Kelly worked as a trainer/learning specialist for a major pharmaceutical company where she trained adults using the principles of adult education.
Feel comfortable leaving your child with a certified teacher. In addition to having fun around horses and learning to ride, your child will also gain a solid foundation of knowledge and skills related to equine science. No matter what your child's age or learning style, Kelly will be able to offer various methods of instruction so that your child enjoys learning while remaining safe, comfortable and focused.
About the Instructor:
Our summer camp is a weeklong day-camp with lots of riding and hands-on activities that will enhance each camper's knowledge and skills with horses.
Our campers not only learn how to ride, but are given a solid foundation of the principles of good horsemanship with safety as the top priority.
Riding instruction is centered around the Saddle Seat and Hunt Seat riding disciplines.
Campers enjoy spending their time outdoors while making new friends who share common interests.
What Is It:
Students are required to pack a lunch, a snack, and plenty of drinks. It may be a good idea to pack along sunscreen, as students will be spending much of their time outdoors.
Students are required to wear long pants or jeans, closed-toe shoes (boots or sneakers), and a helmet during riding instruction. Students may bring a change of clothes for after riding instruction, however sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.
Our camp runs 9:00am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday during the scheduled summer sessions.
For children (ages 7-14) who love horses, and are interested in riding. Beginners and experienced riders are welcome.
