The members of Sugar Valley Farm often compete in local fun shows and larger rated shows throughout the northeast region.

Our riders who are also members of PSHA, ASHANJ, or ASHANY
compete for year-end high-points awards in a variety of divisions.

Horse Shows

The SVF Riding Academy Team is comprised of a group of lesson students who compete in local fun and rated horse shows throughout the region.

Riding Academy Team members do not need to own a horse. However, certain eligibility requirements must be met.  Team members compete at qualified horse shows with lesson horses in the Academy division.

While Riding Academy Team members do not need their own horse to compete, they will need proper Saddle Seat riding attire. Please check with Kelly before purchasing any riding apparel.

No matter what skill level, all Riding Academy Team members are able to compete against other Academy Teams from area stables, of similar abilities and on lesson horses. Academy classes are offered in a variety of options for all riders.

Academy classes range from "Leadline" for the youngest of riders, to "Walk & Trot Only" for new riders and  "Walk, Trot & Canter" for more experienced riders.  Both "Pleasure" and "Equitation" classes are typically offered, with and without pattern work.

Members of our Riding Academy are placed into appropriate competing divisions based upon age and skill level. Academy Team members are also eligible to earn year-end awards with the Pennsylvania Saddlebred Horse Association.

The Academy division introduces new riders and their families to the exciting and competitive world of horse shows.

For those interested in competing beyond the Academy division, please check with Kelly for other exciting options.
